Privacy Policy

1. Who we are

Rare Personas (rarepersonas.com, the "Site") is operated by a company registered in the Republic of Lithuania ("we", "us"). We are the controller of the personal data described in this policy. You can reach us any time at support@rarepersonas.com.

This policy explains what data we collect when you use the Site, why we collect it, who we share it with, how long we keep it and what choices you have. By using the Site you agree to the practices described here. If you do not agree, please do not use the Site.

2. At a glance

  • You can take every quiz without creating an account. Leaving your email is optional.
  • Your quiz answers are encoded into your result link. If you do not give us your email, we have no way to connect that result to you as a person.
  • If you choose to leave your email, we link your result to it and may send you emails about our quizzes and products. You can unsubscribe at any time.
  • We use analytics and advertising tools, listed by name in sections 7 and 8, to understand how the Site is used and to measure our marketing.
  • We do not sell personal data.
  • If we sell paid products, payment runs through Stripe. Card details go to Stripe directly and never touch our servers.

3. The data we work with

Data you type in yourself. Your answers while taking a quiz, your email address if you choose to leave it, and anything you write to us at our support address.

Data created by using the Site. When you finish a quiz, your answers are turned into a code that becomes part of your result page address. While a quiz is in progress, your answers so far are kept in your browser's session storage so a reload does not lose them. That copy stays on your device and expires when the browser session ends. If you buy a paid product, we also keep the details of that order.

Data collected automatically. Our servers and the third-party tools described below receive technical information such as your IP address, browser type and version, device type, screen size, operating system, language, rough location derived from your IP address, the pages you visit, the links you click, how long you stay and the site that referred you. Some of this is collected through cookies and similar identifiers, described in section 6.

4. Your result link and your email

The address of your result page contains your encoded answers. Anyone who has the link can open it and see the result, so share it the way you would share anything personal. The link itself does not contain your name, email or anything else about you.

If you enter your email address, for example to save your result or have it sent to you, we store the result together with your email address. We use that connection to show or send you your result, and to send you marketing emails about our quizzes, archetypes and products. Every marketing email contains an unsubscribe link, and unsubscribing stops marketing immediately. You can also ask us to delete your email and everything linked to it at any time.

5. What we use data for

  • Running the Site: delivering pages, calculating and showing quiz results, saving progress during a quiz and fixing technical problems.
  • Improving our quizzes and content: understanding which pages people read, where they stop, which quizzes they finish and which results they get, so we can make the quizzes and profiles better.
  • Email communication: sending your result if you asked for it, answering your messages and, with your consent, sending marketing emails.
  • Advertising: measuring whether our ads work and reaching people who may like our quizzes, as described in section 8.
  • Payments: processing purchases and handling refunds when we sell paid products.
  • Safety and legal reasons: keeping the Site secure, preventing abuse and fraud, enforcing our Terms of Use and meeting legal obligations such as tax record keeping.

6. Cookies and similar technologies

Cookies are small files a website asks your browser to remember. We use three kinds of storage:

  • Necessary: session storage that keeps your quiz progress on your own device. The Site works without any account or login cookies.
  • Analytics: cookies and identifiers set by the analytics tools in section 7 to recognize returning visits and measure how the Site is used.
  • Advertising: cookies and identifiers set for the advertising purposes in section 8, mainly to connect an ad click to what happens on the Site afterwards.

Where the law requires consent for non-essential cookies, we ask for it before setting them. You can also control cookies in your browser settings: block them, delete them or get a warning when one is set. Blocking analytics and advertising cookies does not affect taking quizzes.

7. Analytics tools we use

We use the following tools to understand how visitors use the Site. They process technical data such as IP address, device information, pages viewed and interactions:

  • Google Analytics (Google LLC): visit and behavior statistics. Google provides a browser add-on that opts you out of Google Analytics on every site.
  • PostHog (PostHog Inc.): product analytics, for example which quiz questions people hesitate on or which sections of a result page get read. We do not send PostHog your email address.
  • Vercel Analytics (Vercel Inc.): aggregated, cookieless traffic statistics such as page views and countries.
  • Ahrefs Web Analytics (Ahrefs Pte. Ltd.): cookieless traffic statistics such as page views, referring sites and search terms.

We look at this data in aggregate. We do not use analytics to build a profile of you as an identified person.

8. Advertising

We advertise our quizzes, mainly through Meta platforms such as Facebook and Instagram. To measure those ads we use the Meta Pixel and the Meta Conversions API (Meta Platforms Ireland Ltd). These tools can receive your IP address, browser information, cookie identifiers, the pages you visited and events such as finishing a quiz. If you gave us your email address, a hashed (scrambled) version of it may be matched by Meta against its own user base to measure conversions and build audiences for our ads.

You can influence this in several places: block advertising cookies in your browser, adjust your ad preferences inside your Meta account settings, or use the opt-out pages run by the Network Advertising Initiative and the Digital Advertising Alliance. Residents of some regions can also object to this processing by writing to us, see sections 12 and 13.

We do not show third-party ads on the Site.

9. Payments

When we sell paid products, payments are processed by Stripe (Stripe, Inc.). Your card number and payment credentials go to Stripe directly and are never stored on our servers. We receive confirmation of the payment, what was bought and the data we need to deliver it and to keep the accounting records the law requires us to keep. Refund requests are handled through the contact address in this policy.

10. Who we share data with

We do not sell personal data, and we share it only with parties that help us run the Site:

  • Infrastructure: Vercel Inc. hosts the Site, and Supabase Inc. provides our database and file storage. Data you submit is stored with them.
  • Email delivery: when we send result or marketing emails, an email service provider processes your email address on our behalf to deliver them.
  • Analytics and advertising partners: the companies named in sections 7 and 8.
  • Payments: Stripe, as described in section 9.
  • Authorities: courts, police and regulators, when a valid legal request obliges us to, or when disclosure is necessary to protect our rights or someone's safety.
  • Business changes: if the business behind the Site is ever sold, merged or reorganized, the data described here can be part of what is transferred. The new operator stays bound by this policy until it is properly changed.

11. Where data is processed

We are based in Lithuania, and several of our providers, such as Vercel, Supabase, Google, PostHog and Stripe, run infrastructure in the United States. This means data can be processed outside the European Economic Area. When data leaves the EEA, we rely on the safeguards the GDPR allows: the European Commission's Standard Contractual Clauses and, where the provider is certified, the EU-US Data Privacy Framework. You can ask us for details about the safeguard that applies to a specific provider.

12. Your rights

If you are in the EEA, the United Kingdom or Switzerland, data protection law gives you the right to:

  • ask for a copy of the personal data we hold about you;
  • have wrong or outdated data corrected;
  • have your data deleted;
  • restrict or object to how we process it;
  • receive the data you gave us in a machine-readable format and take it elsewhere;
  • withdraw consent at any time, for example by unsubscribing from marketing emails, without affecting what was done before the withdrawal;
  • complain to a supervisory authority. In Lithuania that is the State Data Protection Inspectorate (VDAI); you can also complain to the authority of the country where you live.

To use any of these rights, email support@rarepersonas.com. Because most visitors never tell us who they are, we may need to ask for enough information to find the data belonging to you, usually the email address you used. We answer within the timeframes the law sets, at most within one month.

13. Privacy rights in the United States

If you live in a US state with a privacy law, such as California, you may have rights to know what personal information we have collected about you, to have it deleted or corrected, and to opt out of the sharing of personal information for targeted advertising. We do not sell personal information for money. The advertising described in section 8 may count as "sharing" under some state laws; to opt out, write to support@rarepersonas.com with the subject "Do not share my data". We will not treat you differently for exercising any of these rights.

14. How long we keep data

  • Quiz progress in your browser: stays on your device and expires with the browser session.
  • Results linked to an email: kept until you unsubscribe and ask for deletion, or until we no longer need them to provide what you asked for.
  • Support correspondence: kept for up to two years after the conversation ends.
  • Server logs and analytics data: kept for up to fourteen months.
  • Purchase records: kept as long as tax and accounting law requires, typically up to ten years.

When a retention period ends, we delete the data or strip it of anything that could identify you.

15. Security

Traffic between your browser and the Site is encrypted, data at rest is stored with providers that encrypt it, and access to production data is limited to the people who need it to run the Site. No online service can promise perfect security, but if we ever learn of a breach that affects your personal data, we will inform you and the authorities as the law requires.

16. Age limit

The Site is not directed at children, and you must be at least 16 years old to use it. We do not knowingly collect personal data from anyone younger. If you believe a child under 16 has given us personal data, contact us and we will delete it.

17. Do Not Track

Browsers can send a "Do Not Track" signal, but there is still no agreed standard for what receiving it should mean, so the Site does not react to it. The controls in sections 6, 7 and 8 are the reliable ways to limit tracking here.

18. Changes to this policy

When our practices change, this policy changes first, along with the date at the top. If a change meaningfully affects your rights, we will make it visible on the Site, and if we hold your email address, we may also tell you directly. Continuing to use the Site after a change means the updated policy applies.
